A beautifully balanced duo—Pennines and Pennine Farm—capturing the quiet drama of northern England through Myers’s signature impasto and tonal restraint. These works distil the essence of rural solitude and architectural rhythm, ideal for collectors of British modernism or those seeking a compact yet powerful wall pairing.

Pennines, oil on canvas card
A poetic panorama of the northern moors, Pennines captures the subtle interplay of light and atmosphere across heather-tipped hills, rendered in thick impasto and a restrained palette of slate blues and muted greens. The brushwork is confident and expressive, inviting the viewer into a landscape shaped by mood as much as terrain.

Pennine Farm, oil on canvas card
A serene study of rural architecture nestled in rolling hills, Pennine Farm balances earthy browns and soft greys with a compositional clarity that reflects Myers’s deep understanding of form and rhythm. The texture is rich, the mood contemplative—an ode to the quiet dignity of the northern countryside.
Bernard Myers ARCA was Professor of Painting at the Royal College of Art from 1961 to 1980, shaping generations of British artists—and even a young James Dyson, who credited Myers with teaching him that “everything about a design must have a purpose.”
Myers exhibited solo at the New Art Centre and New Grafton Gallery, contributed regularly to the Royal Academy and Royal West of England, and authored key texts on modern British art and design theory. His works are held in the Arts Council Collection, Government Art Collection, National Railway Museum, and Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery.
